Filippi Focus | Junior Sculling Regatta 2025

With crews racing up and down the country, Filippi UK were busier than ever before over the course of the first May bank holiday weekend. At the Junior Sculling Regatta, we collected six medals, including four golds, to complete a fantastic few days of rowing.

Our golds all came in the open single disciplines, as our shells powered athletes to victory in the J15, J16, J17 and J18 class. In the OJ151x, Henry Crisp of Bedford Rowing Club took the win ahead of a sculler from the South Arfrican Schools Rowing Association. For the J16s, William Gawthorp of St Peter’s College took the victory over another South African sculler and Lea Rowing Club in third.

The J17 title was claimed by Julian Lainck of Bedford School Boat Club in impressive fashion before Jack Ribbens of Bewl Bridge Rowing Club took the J18 title to continue his impressive ascension in the junior rowing world.

Elsewhere, Filippi won bronze in the open junior 14 double with Wallingford Rowing Club and matched that result in the open junior 16 equivalent with Bewl Bridge Rowing Club.

With the National Schools’ Regatta less than three weeks away, we’re excited to support crews on their journey to domestic success and look forward to seeing many of these athletes plying their trade in Nottingham at the end of May.
