British Rowing trials for 2024 got off to a flying start in Boston, Lincolnshire as over a hundred athletes descended on the winding course to place their strongest hand in preparation for the events to come. Filippi were exceptionally well-represented across the various boat classes, with numerous top-ten finishes.
In the men’s single, Daniel Jones of Leander Club was our highest finisher in fifth. Close behind him were Stephen Hughes of Leander + Maidenehead and Levin Graf of Leander in sixth and seventh. In 11th place was Angus Pollock of Bath University and the UK Armed Forces, with Laurence Joss of Tideway Scullers School in 12th. In 17th was Matt Brigham of Leeds University whilst the top 20 was closed out for Filippi by Calvin Tarczy of Leander Club.
In the women’s single, our stand-out performer was Vwairé Obukohwo of Twickenham, who came home third and 12 seconds behind the winner. Behind her, Bass Andre finished seventh representing Molesey Boat Club whilst Molly Curry was a few seconds back in eighth for Queen’s University Belfast. Heloise Wormleighton of Molesey Boat Club also raced a Filippi and finished 15th.
For the men’s pair, our top-ranked boat were second overall, representing our fastest finish of the day. The duo of Luca Ferraro and Gus John, Cambridge University veterans, were eight seconds back on the overall winners from Leander Club. Our other representation in the top 20 came from Luke Beever and Orlando Morley, also of Cambridge University, who finished 15th.
In the women’s pair, we had three finishes inside of the top ten; Annie Sharp and Lucy Edmunds were sixth for Oxford University Boat Club; Holly Youd and Anna Grace were eighth for Durham and Newcastle Universities whilst Aggie Burt and Sarah Marshall were ninth representing Oxford University and Oxford Brookes. Finally, Daisy Jackson and Izzie Kennedy were 15th for Durham University.
