Filippi Focus | BUCS Regatta 2026

Filippi crews produced a dominant performance across all four days of the 2026 BUCS Regatta, collecting gold medals in the championship, intermediate and beginner events and finishing as the clear leading manufacturer across the full medal table. The results spanned virtually every boat class on offer from single sculls to eights, from lightweight to open, across both the men’s and women’s programmes and reflected the extraordinary depth of Filippi’s presence in British university rowing.

The University of Reading were the weekend’s stand-out performers, securing both the men’s and women’s VLs in spectacular fashion. They are proud supporters of the Filippi brand, and we are delighted to see this programme flourish under the leadership of Will Rand, Chris Bartley, and Simon Williamson.

Friday’s racing opened with immediate success. The University of Reading won the Open Championship Double Sculls, with Queen’s University Belfast third in the same event, also in Filippi. Durham University won the Women’s Championship Coxed Four with Cambridge University third. University of Reading added victory in the Open Championship Lightweight Double Sculls, while University of Birmingham swept the Women’s Championship Lightweight Coxless Four — with Cambridge University second and a second Cambridge University crew third, making it a clean Filippi top-three in that event. Queen’s University Belfast finished second in the Open Intermediate Double Sculls to round out a productive opening day.

Saturday produced Filippi’s heaviest medal haul of the regatta. University of Reading won the Open Championship Lightweight Single Sculls, the Women’s Championship Quad Sculls, and with Durham University second in the Women’s Championship Coxless Pair and third in the Women’s Championship Coxless Pair as well. University of Birmingham won the Women’s Intermediate Lightweight Coxless Pair with Queen’s University Belfast second. University of Reading also won the Women’s Championship Lightweight Double Sculls, with a second Reading crew third. In the eights, Durham University finished second in the Open Championship Eight — one of the most prestigious events of the regatta. University of Reading took second in the Women’s Intermediate Quad Sculls, and Durham University took bronze in the Women’s Championship Coxless Pair. Queen’s University Belfast finished second and third in the Open Intermediate Single Sculls. University of Reading won the Women’s Championship Quad Sculls. Durham University finished second in the Open Intermediate Lightweight Coxless Pair.

Sunday continued the momentum. University of Reading won the Women’s Intermediate Single Sculls, with a second Reading crew taking silver in the Women’s Championship Single Sculls. The University of Edinburgh won the Women’s Beginner Coxed Four. The University of Oxford took silver in the Women’s Championship Lightweight Single Sculls. The University of London finished third in the Open Intermediate Coxed Four and Durham University second in the Open Championship Coxed Four. University of Cambridge won the Open Championship Lightweight Coxless Four with Durham University second, making it a Filippi 1-2 in that event. University of Reading won the Open Championship Quad Sculls with Queen’s University Belfast second — another Filippi 1-2. University of Bath finished second and Cambridge University third in the Women’s Intermediate Eight. University of London won the Women’s Championship Eight with Durham University third. Plymouth University finished second in the Open Beginner Quad Sculls.

Monday’s programme brought the regatta to a close with further Filippi success. University of Reading won the Women’s Intermediate Lightweight Quad Sculls with University of Birmingham second and Queen’s University Belfast third — a Filippi top-three. Durham University won the Open Championship Coxless Pair. The University of Cambridge won the Women’s Intermediate Coxed Four, with Durham University second and the University of London third, a clean Filippi podium. University of Oxford won the Women’s Championship Coxless Four. The University of Reading finished second and third in the Women’s Championship Double Sculls. Queen’s University Belfast took silver and Durham University bronze in the Open Intermediate Lightweight Quad Sculls. The University of Reading finished third in the Women’s Beginner Double Sculls.

Across all four days, the consistency of certain programmes in Filippi equipment was particularly striking. University of Reading collected golds in multiple championship and intermediate sculling events across the men’s and women’s programmes. Durham University were omnipresent in the sweep events, taking podium finishes in the championship pair, four and eight. Cambridge University swept the top three in the Women’s Championship Lightweight Coxless Four on Friday and returned to the podium throughout the weekend. Birmingham University won two gold medals in the lightweight women’s events. That range, from Reading’s sculling dominance to Durham’s sweep strength, from Birmingham’s lightweight programme to Oxford’s coxless four, is what makes this one of the most comprehensive BUCS results sets Filippi has produced. We congratulate every crew and coach involved and look forward to seeing these athletes represent their universities and clubs as the season continues.
