Filippi crews were once again well represented at the 2026 Junior Sculling Head, with a number of crews delivering competitive performances across the full programme at Dorney Lake.
As one of the key fixtures on the junior sculling calendar, the event offers programmes the opportunity to test speed against national competition in a controlled, multi-lane environment. With strong entries across all age groups, this year’s racing highlighted the depth of junior sculling in the UK, with several Filippi crews featuring prominently in tightly contested quad events.
Filippi crews featured prominently from the opening division. In the Open J16 Quadruple Sculls, Shiplake College Boat Club secured second place, finishing just behind the winners in a competitive field and setting the tone for a consistent day of results.
In the Women’s J16 Quadruple Sculls, City of Cambridge Rowing Club took third place, producing a strong performance to reach the podium in one of the most closely contested junior women’s events.
The older junior categories saw further success for Filippi crews. In the Open Junior Quadruple Sculls, Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School Boat Club finished second, with Marlow Rowing Club close behind in third, as both crews delivered strong rows in a fast field.
Marlow Rowing Club also featured again in the Women’s Junior Quadruple Sculls, where they secured third place, continuing a consistent run of podium finishes across multiple events.
One of the standout results of the day came in the Women’s J17 Quadruple Sculls, where George Heriot’s School Rowing Club produced an excellent performance to take the win in a Filippi boat. In the same event, Marlow Rowing Club added another podium finish with third place, underlining their depth across the junior women’s categories.
The final division of the day saw Filippi crews represented in the larger boat classes. In the Open J14 Octuples, St George’s College Boat Club secured second place, rounding off a strong showing for Filippi boats across both sculling and sweep events.
Across the full programme, Filippi crews appeared consistently among the leading results, particularly in the junior quad sculling events. With the head season now coming to a close, these performances provide a solid platform as crews begin to transition toward the regatta season in the months ahead.
