Filippi Focus | Pairs Head of the River 2026

The 2026 Pairs Head was an exceptional day for Filippi on the Tideway, with wins recorded across the open sweep, open sculling, mixed masters, women’s sweep, women’s sculling, junior and masters women’s categories. From the blue-riband open championship coxless pair through to the masters women’s events, Filippi hulls were present at the top of the results throughout.

In the open sweep events, B. Edmondson and S. O’Mahony of London Rowing Club won the open championship coxless pair in Filippi, with D. Gorenkin and F. Treherne Pollock of Vesta second in the same event, a Filippi 1-2 in the premier sweep event of the day. S. Taylor and J. Hayton of City of Cambridge won the open club coxless pair in Filippi, with T. Hewitt and J. Turner of Cantabrigian third. H. Lunn and E. Frost of Dart Totnes won the open senior coxless pair in Filippi, with J. Lee and B. Wood of Crabtree/Vesta third. In the open J18 coxless pair, Filippi swept the top three entirely: M. Williams and A. Zarkovic of St Paul’s School first, E. Ludgate and A. Ludgate of St Paul’s second, and H. Le and G. Parson of St Paul’s third. R. Theobald and C. Scorah of Broxbourne finished third in the open masters B/C coxless pair in Filippi, and R. Coote and L. Clarke of Greenbank Falmouth third in the open masters F coxless pair.

In the open sculling events, J. Lyon and N. Luff of London Rowing Club won the open senior double sculls in Filippi, with M. Nicholas and H. Wilkinson of Tideway Scullers second. M. Chute and M. Bird of Marlow finished second in the open championship double sculls in Filippi. I. Palmer and D. Smith of Nottingham/Peterborough won the open masters D championship double sculls in Filippi, with D. Law and P. Curle of Crabtree second, a Filippi 1-2. G. Blanchard and C. Ware of City of Cambridge/Rob Roy won the open masters E championship double sculls in Filippi. A. Mitchell and E. Bishop of St Catharine’s College Oxford won the open masters F double sculls in Filippi. D. Ohrenstein and S. Chiocca of Tideway Scullers finished second in the open masters C double sculls, and R. Waugh and P. Debois of Tideway Scullers second in the open masters E club double sculls. In the mixed masters, N. Lyon and S. Pullen of Twickenham RC finished second in the mixed masters F double sculls in Filippi, and N. Holland and J. Easton of Marlow/Star won the mixed masters G/H double sculls outright.

The women’s events produced an equally comprehensive set of results. M. Saunders and S. Delray of Tideway Scullers/University of London won the women’s championship double sculls in Filippi, with E. Cooke and F. Hunt-Davis of Reading University second, a Filippi 1-2 at the top of the women’s sculling programme. E. Meredith and L. Bates of London Rowing Club won the women’s lightweight double sculls in Filippi, with F. Dallas and L. Poletti of Reading University second. In the women’s J18 double sculls, A. Moss and A. Kemmis of Marlow won in Filippi, with L. Platt and B. Kennedy of Marlow second and E. Grant and L. Tyburczy of City of Cambridge third, a Filippi top three. I. Charlton and S. Van de Geest of Latymer Upper won the women’s J18 coxless pair in Filippi.

In the women’s sweep events, A. Wrafter and L. Collier of Stourport won the women’s club coxless pair in Filippi, with E. Barnes and S. Ellis of Broxbourne second. A. Dixon and C. Grayson of London finished third in the women’s senior coxless pair in Filippi.

Among the women’s masters results, L. D’urso and A. Clarkson of Cantabrigian won the women’s masters B championship double sculls in Filippi. R. Allen and T. Albrecht of London won the women’s masters C coxless pair in Filippi. B. Ribbens and L. Allen of Bewl Bridge finished second in the women’s masters C double sculls. T. O’leary and S. Ockendon of Walton finished second in the women’s masters D championship double sculls, and C. Hedtke and L. Pearson of Barnes Bridge Ladies third in the women’s masters D/E coxless pair. S. Powell and R. Stackhouse of Barnes Bridge Ladies won the women’s masters E double sculls in Filippi, with A. Hewitt and K. Johnson of Eton Excelsior second. H. Kilsby and W. Primmer of Tideway Scullers won the women’s masters F double sculls in Filippi. K. Lawrence and J. Al-Janabi of Tideway Scullers finished third in the women’s masters G/H double sculls.

Across the full results card, Filippi crews won 14 events and reached the podium in well over 30 in total. The consistency of certain programmes across multiple categories (Tideway Scullers, London Rowing Club, Marlow, Reading University and Barnes Bridge Ladies all contributing multiple results) was a defining feature of the day.
