Across 14 categories and well over 30 individual top-five finishes, Filippi scullers were a constant presence at the front of the field at the 2026 Scullers Head. The results ranged from the Open Championship Single Sculls through to masters novice events, and taken together they offer a picture of a hull performing consistently across every tier of the sport on the Tideway.
At the top of the men’s programme, George Bourne of Leander Club won the Open Championship Single Sculls in Filippi, the blue-riband event of the day, with Timothy Wilkinson of Greenbank Falmouth Rowing Club fourth in the same event. In the Open Club Single Sculls, Michael Glover of King’s College School Boat Club finished third in Filippi and Toby Reid of Derby Rowing Club fourth. Thibault Mulot, George Christian and Matthew Roe of London Rowing Club, London Rowing Club and Tideway Scullers School, respectively, took the top three places in the Open Novice Single Sculls, all in Filippi hulls, with Will Passey of Cygnet Rowing Club fourth in the same event. In the Open Senior Single Sculls, James Beattie and Joshua Lyon, both of Thames Rowing Club and London Rowing Club respectively, finished third and fourth in Filippi.
In the junior men’s events, Hoa-Tinh Le of St Paul’s School won the Open J17 Single Sculls in Filippi, with Max Williams, also of St Paul’s School, fifth. In the Open School/Junior Single Sculls, Filippi scullers filled four of the top five places: Edward Ludgate of St Paul’s School won, Felix Koelsch of Westminster School finished second, Dylan Childs of the American School in London fourth, and Joshua Liau of Westminster School fifth. Benjamin Snoxall of Reading University won the Open U23 Single Sculls in Filippi, with Archie Norton of Minerva Bath third in the same event.
In the masters men’s events, Filippi featured across multiple categories. David Cosens of Southampton Coalporters ARC and Jonathan Brown of Vesta Rowing Club finished fourth and fifth in the Masters B. Tom Middleton of Molesey Boat Club won the Masters D, with David Smith of Nottingham Rowing Club second and Salvatore Chiocca of Tideway Scullers School fourth. Michael Duffy of City of Bristol won the Masters E, with Rory O’Sullivan of Tideway Scullers School third and Brian Humphris of Ardingly Rowing Club fourth. In the Masters F, Stephen Peel of Crabtree Boat Club finished second and Steven Quinn of Upper Thames third, with Julian Keens of Molesey Boat Club fourth. Jim Cassidy of Neptune Rowing Club, Ireland, finished third in the Masters G, David Jillings of Molesey Boat Club fourth, and Slavo Radosevic of Quintin Boat Club and Russell Thornton of Gloucester Rowing Club second and fifth in the Masters H. Rod Stewart of Upper Thames Rowing Club won the Masters IJK category in Filippi.
The women’s results were equally strong. Rachel Aldridge of Reading University and Margaret Saunders of Tideway Scullers School finished second and third in the Women’s Championship Single Sculls in Filippi. Jamina Collington of Thames Rowing Club took third in the Women’s Club Single Sculls. Nicela Martincic, Julia Hunt-Davis and Hope Cessford, all of Thames Rowing Club, swept the top three places in the Women’s Senior Single Sculls in Filippi, with Flora Turnbull of Rob Roy Boat Club fourth. In the Women’s School/Junior Single Sculls, Mia Tans of St Paul’s Girls’ School finished second in Filippi, Hannah Palin of Headington School third, Maya Weiler of the American School in London fourth and Anja Knight of Nottinghamshire County Rowing Association fifth. In the Women’s U23 Single Sculls, Ella Fullman of Bath University won in Filippi, with Isabel Hull of Reading University second, Evelyn Pakule of Lea Rowing Club fourth and Molly While of Nottingham University fifth.
In the women’s junior events, Lily Margot of Headington School won the Women’s J17 Single Sculls in Filippi, with Heidi Foster and Madeleine Banfield, also of Headington, finishing third and fourth — three Headington scullers in Filippi across the top four. In the Women’s Lightweight Single Sculls, Leanna Daniels of Hollingworth Lake, Rachel Grainger of Vesta Rowing Club and Devin Ward of London Rowing Club finished third, fourth and fifth in Filippi. In the Women’s Masters AB, Natasha Gallagher of Walbrook Rowing Club finished second in Filippi and Kate Read of Peterborough City fourth. Lisa Kallal of Mortlake Anglian & Alpha finished second in the Women’s Masters E and Claire Dickinson of Reading Rowing Club fifth. Kathryn Hickmott of Tideway Scullers School took second in the Women’s Masters FGH. In the Women’s Masters Lightweight, Carole Mills of Champion of the Thames finished second in Filippi. In the Women’s Masters Novice, Jennifer Wainer of Molesey Boat Club finished second in Filippi, Nadia Fontaine of Auriol Kensington Rowing Club third and Charlotte Lennox of Vesta Rowing Club fifth. In the Women’s Masters C, Jason Green of Star Club finished third in the Open Masters Lightweight and Jon MacKinney of Kingston Rowing Club fifth.
The volume and variety of Filippi results at the Scullers Head tells its own story. This was not dominance in one or two categories but a consistent presence at the front of almost every event on the card, across age groups, genders and competitive levels.
